We’ve been experiencing a much-degraded email service since 11.22 am Monday 14th December as a consequence of Alphabet Inc’s ongoing global infrastructure problem.
If your matter is urgent please telephone us.
Personal and Enterprise users of the Google suite of cloud solutions are being impacted in many countries across the world. Outages do happen, however, the major backbone providers (Google, Amazon, Microsoft) are the major backbone providers because of the resilience of the systems and their ability to restore services promptly.
On the very rare occaission something like this happens, we provide updates on our Twitter account here: https://twitter.com/uk_investretire
UPDATE
2315hrs 14 December 2020
Our email service was degraded for 42 minutes earlier today, during which time our team members had either no, or limited access to live emails.
We spend a lot of time (and money) ensuring our digital infrastructure is robust and protects our client’s personal information.
The engineers report that this global outage was caused by an overly enthusiastic security authentication error, the equivalent of a total lockdown.
Technology outages usually happen due to conflicts which arise when updates are applied. Despite the inconvenience (for which we’re very sorry), we’re very reassured that the system was restored so quickly and we’re extremely happy that when conflicted, the system went into immediate lockdown and secured all client emails, even if that meant we couldn’t access those emails for a while. We are very happy that the inconvenience was a very small price to pay in this unplanned real-world test of our ability to secure client data.
