The origins of Investment & Retirement Solutions Ltd are found embedded along the North Wales coast. We remain totally committed to our roots, and more importantly our amazing clients from Chester to Holyhead (and all points in between). However, the reality is that most of our team and most of our clients are to be found in the English Midlands and London.
The mismatch in ‘permitted travel rules’ between the Westminster government and Llywodraeth Cymru have tested our ability to comply with our obligations under the Companies Act and from the Financial Services Authority. Whilst in some circumstances the activities of our team satisfy the test of “key workers” (financial services exemption); the reality is that most of the time, we have many clients who are key workers, but we’re not.
At the time of writing, our initial review tells us that the travel restrictions have NOT caused a breach of the Companies Act or financial services regulation or law, rather we’ve been delighted with how robustly our digital office and distributed team have, and continue to perform.
However, we have to acknowledge the problems we’ve had accessing post at our Registered Office. We’ve been lucky that this hasn’t caused our clients or our business any tangible disadvantage, but, we are not prepared to run our business in a way in which we are dependent on luck.
Therefore, we have taken the decision to relocate our Registered Office from Wales, and co-locate it in our Head Office in Ransom Hall. We plan to make this technical change during the summer.
Our Welsh presence will remain in the same Rhos-on-Sea office, and the office will remain available for client meetings, however we won’t accept the ‘service of legal documents’ in Wales from the time the Registrar of Companies for England & Wales accepts our notification of the change in the location of our registered office.
We’re sharing ‘advance notice’ of our decision now, so that at the point we make the change (we haven’t applied yet!) our clients and the investment and financial product providers we work with will not be surprised.
More pragmatically, ignoring the service of legal documents, we’d like to remind all clients that in the absence of email, the best address to write to us is at our centralised administration centre (Investment & Retirement Solutions Ltd, PO Box 899, Sowerby Bridge, HX1 9UU). During the recent testing times, this has been the most dependable of our addresses, more so, now that Royal Mail have restored our Saturday delivery service.
We’ll formally announce the change in registered office address later in the summer at the point it becomes effective.
